Enapps at 15: What a Rollercoaster of a Journey
Today, 19 August, Enapps turns 15. Fifteen years of building an ERP for ambitious SMEs, and what a rollercoaster it has been.
Before anything else, thank you. To my colleagues, for your dedication and belief in what we do. It is a joy to watch people grow, and even more of a joy to watch them drive growth. And to our customers, who believed in us, shared our vision and invested in our growth, shaping both our team and our product along the way. What we have with our customers are true partnerships, and true partnerships are a win-win. We grow, our customers grow, our platform grows and our service quality grows. That is the whole model, and it works.
The last five years
The world today is a totally different place compared to our 10-year anniversary. Back then, nobody was asking their ERP a question in plain English and getting a sensible answer. Not only have we kept pace, but I believe Enapps has been at the forefront.
We have adopted AI in every corner of the organisation, and built it into every corner of the product. Supplier invoices now read, code and match themselves from an email inbox. Expenses are captured from a photograph of a receipt. Bank statements reconcile themselves against learned patterns. Sales calls are transcribed and summarised automatically. And through our MCP connection, our customers’ teams can ask AI assistants like Claude about pipeline health, project margins or stock cover, and get answers built from live ERP data, under the same permissions as any user.
The product has grown well beyond AI too. A completely new user interface for the ERP, faster and cleaner to work in every day. Three mobile apps: CRM for the sales team on the road, Field Service for engineers on site, and a warehouse and shop floor app for rugged scanners. New modules across the platform, from the customer portal to helpdesk to EOS tools (more on those in a moment). And behind it all, a much stronger Delivery team, with AI now woven into how we develop and test the ERP itself, so improvements reach our customers with more precision and more pace. Which is fitting, because Precision and Pace is the core value that drives our innovation.
The honest bit
Of course, innovating at pace as the team grows is a dangerous path. More people, more connections, more variables. All of it can turn into chaos, and we felt the signs of it. And yes, as any founder, I made my fair share of mistakes along the way. Mistakes with hiring, people, direction, structure, feedback. If I am being honest, every mistake in the book. Some of them twice, just to be thorough.
But we did something about it. We are now eight months into implementing EOS, the Entrepreneurial Operating System. Simple business tools that get everyone aligned and strengthen growth sustainably. Having an aligned team with clear visibility and accountability has made a huge difference.
And as usual, we like to sip our own Champagne (the software industry calls it eating your own dog food, but we are a British company and we have standards). So we built the EOS tools into our ERP and shared them with our customers. What surprised me most was discovering how many of them were on a similar journey and really appreciated the new feature.
What happens next
This is the part I am most excited about. We are in the process of launching our Partnership Programme, which, in simple terms means more partners sharing Enapps ERP with the world.
Fifteen years in, and it still feels like we are just getting started.
